Sauna II

Built during my residency at the Sculpture Space in Utica, NY, Sauna II is constructed entirely of salvaged and found material. Wood and metal was gathered from the immediate area around Utica and the Mohawk River Valley in New York. The outer cladding is planed and sawn lengths of wood from deconstructed pallets. The stove was welded from scrap metal. The sauna stones were gathered from a nearby stream.

Sauna II is designed to be completely modular. Four bolts hold the entire structure together and two people can assemble it in approximately 7 minutes. Like the original Sauna, the social sculpture will remain at the residency location to be "performed" by artists-in-residence and staff until a future date.

Specifications: Salvaged wood, steel, slate, stone.
